The first is a stacked version of C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS, looking across fields near The Dish at Parkes on the 28th Sept, before the Malins. A very pretty sight, rising into the brightening dawn about 55 minutes before sunrise. The tail was 5.5° long. Canon EOS 6Dii, Canon 100-400mm zoom @100mm, tracked on Skywatcher Star Adventurer. 9x10s for comet, 1x10s for horizon.
The second one on the 4th was much harder, the comet was initially lost in the pollution layers above Parramatta and Sydney city as it rose from Elizabeth Lookout in Glenbrook. Barely visible to the naked eye in twilight and haze, it was somewhere near mag 1.5, and the 42 stacked 1s images bring out a ~5° tail. I am looking forward to its re-emergence in the evening sky!
Canon EOS 6Dii, Canon EF100mm macro. Single frame for horizon.
