Settings for modded ToUCam

I had to change laptops over the weekend-catastrophic failure of my old laptop..but now K3CCD long exposure wont work in the new (not really new , its an old second hand lap top)

The problem is with my modded ToUcam
cant star test due to weather-but it looks like live is OK but long exposure for some reason is not turning on

cant figure out why

would greatly appreciate any suggestions, have spent all evening trying to fix - just not computer savvy enough I guess

it was working fine in the old laptop-now only long exposure doesnt seem to work

any help would be most appreciated

I am using K3CCD which I have on a CD- came with the camera which I purchased commercially from Atik

Hmmmm... sounds odd how it worked on one lappy but not on the other.

I can't help with info about K3ccd, I only use 'Desire' and I've never had a problem with it.

Maybe the Parallel Port is cactus

it doesnt seem to work in guide dog either so it doesnt look like software...the PC thinks the parallel port is working fine..could it be the settings ?

The settings don't stop it from taking images. They just control the length of exposure, brightness, Gamma etc. You said that the Long Exposure won't even turn on, that sounds like a connection problem.

oh its producing an image al right, its just not producing an image that varies with exposure length?I need at least two seconds for autoguiding and think i'm not getting that..which i used to just before i switched lappys

i dont mean settings in k3ccd i mean settings in windows XP ..i dont really know, it was plug n play and now for some reason it isnt

ahhhh, the exposure length you set your guiding at will determine how long the Toucams exposure is.

If you have guiding set at 2 seconds, the Toucam will give you 2 seconds. If you set guiding at 3 seconds the Toucam will give you 3 seconds etc.

Atleast that's how it's suppose to work. Mine does in Guidedog.

I had exactly the same symptoms when i first modded my 900spc, it turned out to be an earth problem. check the you have earth on you parallel port, and also continuity between your camera earth and p/port earth.

My camera did exactly what yours is doing untill i found the earth from the modded chip had come away.

Hope it helps, good luck

George.

Hi,
It maybe that the printer port is set to EPP mode in BIOS.
When you first switch on the lappy, does it let you enter "setup"?Del key or F2, or f10.
Enter setup & check the parallel port mode.
May need to be ECP mode.
Hope this helps

sir you are a legend.

this indeed was the problem-I think! (not star tested due to weather)

In addition I needed to set LPT 1 to"allow plug and play" but once I had the ECP mode set correctly, it was a question of playing around to get this right

Thank you very much for your help
