I bought it with an Orion Optics VX12L 12" OTA. Turns out the scope needed some work, which I did. And then, once loaded with all the optics, EFW, EAF, guide camera, OAG-L and camera, the mount was right at it's limit and the tracking suffered. Perfectly normal, should only approach 70% of the max rated value and I was about 85%.
Then I bought an edgeHD14 which is much heavier! But it was a great deal and I am patient! Will likely go for a Trident GTR with Losmandy ebsolute encoders - $35k delivered with 50kg of counter weights, in crate. It's a lot of dough and I just havn't been drunk enough yet to pull the trigger haha (might still go for the eq8-rh, undecided. Am in no rush).
Up until now, though I was using both my Nikon camera and various Sigma Art lenses and a guide scope. And a couple of smaller scopes, including an 8" OTA, Redcat 51-3 and a Sharpstar 150 HNT (I just love this scope). And all worked beautifully.
I am happy to keep the mount, it's still very useful to me. But in an effort to try an coax myself into a rather massive purchase, as far as hobbys go (right?), I thought I would try sell the CGX and add some value by bundling it with the Celestron SSAG that pairs with it.
I have not had much interest and am not willing to sell any lower. So, either someone snaps up a bargain or I just keep it and .. either way, I am fine.
They are a good thing. But not meaning to talk myself out of a sale, have you tried Andrew's or the amazing fellas at Testar for advice re parts? Of course, Bintel are excellent too. Three really good resources and worth looking in to. Of course, feel free to come and buy this one!
