Extremely rare item, unused, purchased while in the States in the 1990's. At the time a decision had not been made whether to construct a fork or german equatorial mounting. In the end a massive fork was built to carry a 20" scope. The item was kept in case a more compact set up was required in the future but that is looking less likely due to my advancing years.
The cast aluminium housing is massive weighing 12kgs with fully machined surfaces. It can easily handle a 25" scope and Ed Byers assured it had been X-rayed for any structural weakness. It comes with top and bottom roller bearings whose outer races are 175 and 95mm in diameter respectively. Note - there is no shaft so it would suit someone who has access to or knows someone with a lathe. The item cost $1,000US + (zero shipping) + 22% sales tax. i.e. approx $1,850AUD (back then, it would be much more now). Reasonable offers around $1,000 plus shipping considered.
