Takahashi FOA60Q - $1950 now $1750 Australia Day Sale

For sale: what is perhaps the greatest 60mm refractor ever made!

Takahashi boasts of the FOA-60Q that “The FOA-60Q has the highest optical performance among all Takahashi optical systems. It boasts the World’s highest level of optical performance, maintaining a Strehl ratio of 99% over the entire visible light range and the entire field of view of a full-size camera.”

Read a fantastic review of this telescope here: http://www.scopeviews.co.uk/TakFOA-60Q.htm (also because Roger has put it on a Takahashi Teegul mount like the one bundled with this telescope, so that's worth seeing too).

I'm selling it with the accessories I put together for my Solar Eclipse trip in April. So what is included?

Takahashi FOA60Q with paperwork
Takahashi clamshell
Takahashi finderscope
Baader clicklock with 2" receiver and William Optics 2" diagonal
Solar filter to suit
Takahashi Teegul AZ/EQ mount with tripod, EQ kit with counterweight
Hard case for the telescope
Hard case for the Teegul
Takahashi Flattener FL0.93x with box

(In pics but not included are the 2" Takahashi diagonal, the Herschel wedge, and the eyepieces in the hard case photo.)

I'm asking $4000 ONO for this lot, and would like to sell it as a bundle if I can.

This is an exquisite telescope and punches far above its aperture for visual observations.

Telescope is in Melbourne's NE suburbs. Postage can be safely arranged with all the delicate bits going in the protective hard cases, but it may not be cheap.

Please message me with any questions etc.

Thanks for looking.

Why does it say F=900mm on the name plate but F=530mm on the cell?

Great question!

Because the 'Q module' is removable, so you can have it as a flourite doublet FL530 @F8.9, or as a flourite Quadruplet FL900 @F15.

The FOA60 (no Q) is the doublet only model, which comes with a blue plate. This came from Takahashi with the Q module included, hence has the Quad plate.

Interesting, can one swap between 530mm and 900mm easily?

I've had interest in the Teegul so I'm happy to separate.

Teegul sold

Hi all,

The Teegul is now sold, as is the finder.

That leaves:

Takahashi FOA60Q with paperwork
Takahashi clamshell
Baader clicklock with 2" receiver and William Optics 2" diagonal
Solar filter to suit
Hard case for the telescope
Takahashi Flattener FL0.93x with box

$2750 ONO for the above bundle, or can separate.

Postage capped at $100 so if it's less you pay the actual cost, and if it's more I will cover.

SOLD - Takahashi Teegul AZ/EQ mount with tripod, EQ kit with counterweight
SOLD - Hard case for the Teegul
SOLD - Takahashi finderscope

One of the biggest gripes about my Takahashi FS-60c is the inability for eyepieces to come into focus due to insufficient in-travel. This is the case for both 1.25'' and 2'' when an adapter is fitted for the latter. It works for the Morpheus line only and still doesn't with a barlow.

Which eyepieces does your scope come into focus with?

All of them.

With the FOA, the Takahashi gods have heard your cries. As Roger Vines says in his review:
Quote:
Focuser

The biggest problem with the FS-60 (and Q) is a serious lack of focus travel at just 25mm. It mostly work for the FS-60C, but isn’t really enough with the Q module in place.

By comparison, the focuser on the FOA-60 has no such trouble. Its drawtube is slightly narrower at a bare 45mm, but has a whopping 85mm of travel to accommodate any eyepiece you could think of. And the supplied extension is all you need for straight through viewing Japanese style or imaging.

$1950pp

The FOA-60Q has been all packed up into its original Takahashi boxes along with its paperwork, and is just waiting for a new owner to come along.

I've pulled it back to basics, so I'm offering:

OTA (Takahashi FOA-60Q, quad plate)
Takahashi Clamshell
Original Takahashi 2" optical receiver
Baader 2" clicklock optical receiver
plus the Takahahis certificate included in the box.

$1950 plus postage, or nearest offer
