Sunday sun 17th December

Hi

Attached is an image of the sun taken today from Melbourne.

Stack of the best 8 of 32 frames in Autostakkert3!

Decovolution with Astrosurface.

Image data taken through a home built spectroheliograph centred at Ha through a 100MM Skywatcher ED at f/9.

Disc reconstructed using Doug Smith SHG software.
ROI of 3120 x 150 pixels scanning at 300FPS.
2400l/mm Optometrics diffraction grating.
Spectral sampling at 0.05A/pixel.

Image reduced in size to 68% of original - unfortunately compressed significantly for presentation here.

Slightly better version here:

cheers
Maurice

Very nice work from the spectroheliograph, lots of great detail in the filaments and proms and active areas. Must be happy with the way it performs.
Thanks for sharing.

Yes, the SHG has exceeded my expectations. Its something a bit different and fun to use.
