Every now and then - about once a week - I get a random text on my mobile telephone telling me "Your Google Verification code is..." I don't have a Google account (I do have a Google e-mail address) so I'm assuming someone somewhere is trying to hack in using my details. Usually, I'm not even on-line when it happens. Anybody else experiencing this one?
Firstly, if you have gmail then, you have a google account.. they go hand in hand...
Secondly, whilst not for my gmail/google account but, in the case of my hotmail/microsoft account, I receive 'verification' messages on occasion (not regular but, not extremely rare either)...
I have two factor authentication running on pretty much everything, these verification messages tend to suggest that someone is indeed trying to access an account & may have successfully cracked your first level of protection, ie: your password...
When I receive these messages, I routinely change the password of the account in question so as to reinstate my two levels of protection for the account.
