Saxon Cielo Eyepiece upgrade?

Hi all, I was thinking of upgrading my Saxon Cielo eyepieces to something like a Pentax smc xw or televue delites/naglers. Bright objects are a bit flarey I find. Is it worth the extra money and should I part with my saxon eyepieces. As Im relatively new to the hobby all advice and assistance is greatly appreciated.

Your Saxon Cielo eyepieces are pretty decent. I too started with them, I've had the 25mm, 12mm, 6.5mm, 4.5mm and 2.3mm. I've since parted ways with the 25 and 12mm. They were ok but I wanted something with a wider apparent field of view.

I still have the 6.5, 4.5 and 2.3mm Cielo's. They are good performers at high power so I will be keeping them. In terms of other eyepieces to upgrade to, I highly recommend the 24mm Televue Panoptic and 9mm Sky Rover aka APM. Those are my only two "premium" eyepieces so far and they are great. Sky Rover in particular are much cheaper than Televue but are really good, I've never seen Saturn looking so sharp and contrasty through any of my current eyepieces as it does through my 9mm Sky Rover!

I do intend to buy more Sky Rover as well as Televue Ethos eyepieces in the future, I'm slowly saving my pennies

I have not yet tried any Pentax, Delite or Naglers yet, the 31mm Nagler is one I have earmarked for future purchase, same with the 3mm Delite. From what I've read, you won't go wrong with any of those three choices you mentioned.

I’ve had my Televue eye pieces for 7 years now and observe from Bortle 3 dark skies using a SW 12” Goto dob.
I’m not a full time observer as imaging takes up most of my time these days but always enjoy wheeling out the dob on a clear moonless night.
Only my opinion but I’d place the Delites further down the list in order of preference for Televue. They are excellent for Binos but with 62deg FOV they were marketed as a budget alternative to the Delos , Delos are far superior IMO
I sold my 7mm Delite and 15mm Delite 5 years ago as I wanted a wider FOV using the power of the dob
My Televue eye pieces include Ethos , Delos , Panoptic and Nagler
My recommendations if your interested in buying just one Televue eyepiece for DSO observing

Nagler 22mm
Delos 17.5mm
Panoptic 27mm

I’ll throw in the Ethos 21mm which is a “luxury eye piece” as most folk would never spend that sort of money on one eye piece , but the views are simply incredible. This eye piece is the Rolls Royce of eye pieces when used with some decent focal length and aperture IMO.

For a more cost effective route (as cost effective as it gets with Tele Vue)... you could always select a longer focal length Tele Vue Plossl (for comfortable eye relief), and pair it with one or preferably both Tele Vue barlows for a range of magnifications. That would be the most affordable entry into Tele Vue optical quality... Which particular Tele Vue Plossl would depend on your telescopes focal length and aperture to begin with...

When you say bright objects are a bit flarey, which focal lengths are you referring to and in which scope? Astigmatism in your eye can cause this effect and it's more pronounced at low powers. Some people wear glasses at low power but take them off at higher powers when the astigmatism is no longer an issue. I have some astigmatism but my low power eyepieces don't have enough eye relief for glasses so I just put up with it.

The point is that if the flaring is caused by your eye then upgrading your eyepieces won't make a difference.
