The Celestron CGE mount was a highly regarded mount due to it being based on the Losmandy G11 and also being made by Losmandy for Celestron.
These mounts had few problems mainly the telephone type cable connectors and the old style Pittman motors and gear train. These problems have been eliminated with a Skywatcher transplant.
This mount has had the Pittman motors replaced by Skywatcher Stepper motors, the electronics have also been replaced by Skywatcher electronics. The connector cables have been replaced by Aviation Plug sockets. A belt drive system has been fitted, there is no backlash now. The electronics pier has been machined out of a solid block of aluminium.
This mount works exactly like a Skywatcher EQ6 except it carries a heavier payload and has better tracking due to the larger worm gears and belt drive system.
Comes with a tripod and a pier base so you have the option of mounting it to a pier or using the tripod. It also has a weight bar extension and two weights. Included is a fitted Pelican case for easy transport.
Features a 5.62 inch worm gear, 180 teeth, weight capacity 28kg, these mounts were made to carry the C14.
