Gum 10 - The 'Angler Fish' Nebula

Resembling a cosmic Angler fish, swimming in an ocean of colorful bright stars, Gum 10 (RCW 19) is an emission nebula located in the constellation Puppis.

Rarely imaged (probably as it's relatively dim & isolated, it forms part of a large 200 thousand solar mass molecular cloud related to the Pup OB3 association and the O7f III giant star HD 69464.

Gum 11 and NGC 2579 are two further emission nebulae in this region.

Imaged early this year in HaLRGB from a dark site in rural Victoria.

Very nice indeed. You're getting some very tight stars there with your Taka setup.

Greg.

A lovely colourful shot Andy ...hmmm?..not sure I can see an Angler fish though..? Don't they have a big mouth full of teeth and sport a light on the end of a fishing pole?

Cheers Greg, decent automation, focussing routines and dark skies sure help!

Many thanks Peter, there's something about the mix of star colours in this frame that balanced the subject and frames it nicely.
