Seems a difficult one to catch with an unmodded DSLR. Teased out some detail from 4 hours of 5 minute exposures.

My kingdom for a dedicated astro camera.

Nice image Mark, nothing to be sniffed at with what you have achieved there is some nice data in that galaxy. I understand your DSLR statement, this same frustration with faint objects has led me to purchasing an entry level astro camera.
