After waiting 3 years due to COVID my wife and I finally got to visit the UK and spend some time with her family in Malta
The UK leg is finished and we are now relaxing in sunny Malta for a few weeks before heading back to Australia
As requested by Alex here’s a few pics of our adventures throughout Malta
Coincidentally my wife’s cousin is launching a new book next week on the history of Lorenzo and Charles Manche’ ( my wife’s grandfather and great grandfather) who were pioneering ophthalmologists in Malta during the late 1800’s early 1900’s for their work on eradicating the eye disease Trachoma from the islands of Malta. Both were doctors, ophthalmologists , military officers and philanthropists. Lorenzo graduated in London before embarking on his work in Malta ( Lorenzo and Charles opened the first eye hospital in Hamrun Malta.
Most of their work was done without charging a penny.
My wife’s cousin and co author of the new book acquired most of Lorenzo’s and Charles optical instruments, lenses , surgical implements, text books and journals etc.. from past family.
