Taylor Swift Madness

Like many other families, mine has been in chaos this past week in the quest for Taylor Swift Concert tickets. My 35 year old daughter has been plotting strategies, engaging family members to park themselves on Ticketek, in the slim hope that the magic random lottery will find them. I spent this morning and early afternoon staring at my laptop, and the Ticketek white screen of oblivion. We all had assigned tasks. My son in Brisbane was monitoring muliplevIP addresses that he controls. I had two devices running on separate networks. My son in law sent me a photo of a computer screen in a Tyre shop where he was at, yep on the White Screen of Oblivion. So much lost productivity today. Of course it will likely be on Netflix anyway.

My daughter finished this week with zero tickets, not one of her emissaries managed to get past the White Screen of Oblivion. What a Con.

I've no interest in going, but it does really bother me that big concerts sell out like this and real punters don't even get a look in, when next month all the radio stations will run competition giveaways for Swiftie tickets. It's basically corporate scalping.

My son managed to score 3 tickets today for my daughter and granddaughter for the Monday concert…… using his mobile …

I’m not a concert goer, never was, never will be…. I would rather listen to music on my HiFi system through my Wharfedale speakers or Bose headphones….. The only concert I ever went to was a Taylor Swift one a few years ago as my daughter was ill and couldn’t use her ticket…….I might have been the oldest Swiftie there ….

I gave NBN away last year, it was unreliable. Now I use dedicated 5G data connection, and it is much faster.

However, speed had nothing to do with getting though apparently.

I don't know any of her songs either, but then everyone was playing lyres and
prancing round the maypole when I was young, so I suppose its not surprising.

I'm not a fan, but I understand she is the real deal in that she writes all her own songs and is an actual musician. That I respect.

It did seem however lining up at Tiketec was the way to go for some, lining up for 19 hours and scoring, now that is dedication.
As mentioned she is the real deal and adored by the masses, good on her.

Taylor Swift does not do much for me, but she does at least seem to have talent rather than just being a manufactured "Star" relying on someone else to write songs and autotune to perform them. I just don't find much modern music that appeals to me for more than a very casual listen now and again.

That said, the younger generation surprise you now and again, my 14 year old (Some years ago, probably when he was 8 or 9) was in the car with me one time and Black Sabbath's Iron Man popped up in the playlist, and he piped up from the back seat "We were listening to this in music class at school" and he wanted it replayed a couple of times. Just recently after I subjected him to it, he promptly added Jethro Tull's Thick as a Brick to his playlist!

It's always interesting when younger folk "discover" the older musos. They are usually amazed at the music. I love youtube, the stuff I've discovered has been amazing, lots of old concerts that were fortunately recorded for posterity and now posted there.

After listening to this, or Kashmir, Taylor Swift does nothing for me musically.
