Touching lightly on why I worked with little data...I reset Asiair trying to fix a problem and lost my previous nights data..this was on the 115mm ..at least it was passable as the 80mm had disappointed me such that all its data I scraped...so this image was just luminance and Ha and a fun morning playing in photoshop...yes I coloured it in as there was no other option.

Such a sad result for two nights work...last night was just something sent to build my character, from stuffing my roof by not taking off all the things that stop it from moving in the wind and causing it to jump off the track...leaving me a huge job today.

I got it open from manual effort somehow... all the while fearing I would do my back in..but taking the risk paid off as I did at least get time under the stars..( I had spare opiates left over from last back drama so I hedged my bet)

anyways I had to do this image to somehow feel that there was a bright side to a total mess I had although they were two good nights of seeing.

Great photo there Alex. I also use the ASIAR, but I stick a USB in rather than use the onboard card. If you get a problem at least your pics will be saved. Also I like to connect the ASIAIR to my home wifi and IPad at the same time. This allows me to wonder over to my PC, enter the ip address of the ASIAR and send the pics to my machine. I tend to do it after a filter change or before turning the ASIAIR off. Another way for you is to install blustack on your PC or laptop and install the ASIAR app and control your ASAIR, mount etc plus grab your pics and get them to your PC or laptop.

Thanks for your encouraging words Steve..here is the mystery..the data was on the stick ..was I mistaken? No I dont think so...although lack of sleep makes me less confident upon insisting such...as there was other stuff there and I am sure I had removed that stick to download from it earlier that day... no doubt my back las settings are gone..I will look.


I have Bluestack (I think that's it..where you emulate the app. on your computer) And ironically I have been trying to get it to work only this week...the desk top asked for " the security key" ..I thought they must mean the Asiair password but that did not work..my desk top showed the four scopes by the way...I asked Oska (John) and he thought it may be signal and so I bought one Asiair to the van and sat it next to the computer and happily upon entering the Asiair password I got the connection.... now the only solution seems to be to drag the van close to the observatory ( where it was originally) ...or...something else?

The security cameras ( 2) in the observatory get picked up by my WiFi and display on my tablet when in the van...so you could think there is a way to get Asiair that way..unfortunately I don't understand these things very well so the solution is not within my grasp if WiFi is available...yet..yet..I can get you tube in the observatory via my modem/ WiFi unit...so...???

Happily I fixed the roof..it only required a crow bar and a super human effort on my part to lift the crow bar above my head...it's been a good day as I got in 2.5 hours of sleep and feel ready for tonight.

Your solution to working out your filters is by removing the wheel and shining a torch and taking a photo I believe..I ask does one need to remove the wheel? As I wonder if torch light down the tube would work?..

Despite the challenges that is a great start Alex. You definitely got all the stars, I counted, which give it a wonderful depth already. Really looking forward to more.

Thank gentlemen...still getting more data but the number of scopes is working against me as I can't give the attention ... Anyways it is still so much fun and actually producing images is a by product...what I enjoy is similar to the way I approached visual..exploring...and via camera is great fun...Anyways some nice data coming...looks good on the phone screen at least.

Regards those filters; did you install them or someone else? If someone installed them its highly likely that they are installed in the following order:
Starting at number1 L R G B Sii Ha Oiii. So, if someone installed them number 1 on your ASIAIR would be L.
Your wheel is numbered internally and the only way you see the numbers is to take the back off the wheel. As you have a 2600, this is screwed directly to the wheel, so do not remove the camera. To see your filters you have to unscrew the spacer in front of the wheel and remove camera and wheel complete. Then unscrew the back of the filter wheel. Screws are small... But if you have the large OAG it will also be screwed to the filter wheel and then that would have to be removed before getting to the wheel. All painful. I suggest not to if not confident. If so do it in a sterile area, and dont cough on your filters. You seem to know the position of Ha Sii and Oiii from your last post so I would use the sequence above and not remove anything.
And the torch wont work...
The idea of taking a clear picture of your opened filter wheel and posting it is that positions MAY be identified by the colour but I dont think its necessary.
