A game of patience 11 May 2023

After having the patience to wait 6 days for some sun, we then had to be patient to find the good gaps of seeing to take some images. The seeing averaged 2 arc seconds with a standard deviation of 0.7 which made for having some significant moments of very poor seeing.
Firstly we took a full disk in Ha. It was really impressive to see, with many filaments, proms and active regions. We caught a prom on the NW limb shortly before it lifted off an hour or so later.
We took some close ups of active regions in both Ha and 540nm all with the K102.
In the NW were AR3300, AR3297, AR3296, AR3294 and AR3293.

Mosaic in 540nm
In the NE were AR3302 and AR3301
Also a full disk two panel mosaic in 393nm taken with the K102.

Well, obviously your patience has payed off, damn fine images, worth waiting for. Sol is certainly providing plenty of activity to aim at.

Great effort Peter & Clare! Your patience certainly paid off. By the way, what website / app do you use to determine seeing conditions with the standard deviation?

We do look at Meteoblue to get seeing information but our recorded average seeing and standard deviation comes from actual measurements during the session. The seeing is measured by our SSM (Solar Scintillation Monitor) and recorded to a data file. We then input the file into a spreadsheet and perform the calculations for average and standard deviation and create the graph.
