A lucky break 5 May 2023

Interesting, the long range forecast earlier in the week suggested that there could be a short time without clouds this morning. The Bureau of Meteorology then changed their forecast as it got closer to Friday showing clouds all day. They should have stayed with their first forecast as there was a brief period of time that was almost clear, just a bit of thin high cloud about. It didn't last long, but we felt lucky to be able to see all the new regions. There were a number of proms, in particular we caught a surge with a loop from outgoing region AR3288. The seeing was reasonable considering the high cloud. 15 minutes after we packed up the sky was clouded over!

Seems we had the same thing on our minds today. Great images , by the way P & C. Impressive sunspot groups and large proms, captured nicely.

We think that you had even better luck with your session than ours Jeff. It's utterly miserable here today so hope you are doing better. Thanks
