A pair of galaxies

Hey all,

No wall of text today, just a pair of galaxies imaged from my Bortle 6 back yard.

NGC4945
NGC5128 (aka Centaurus A)

I never realised how big and bright '5128 is. If I'd known I'd have imaged it ages ago...

SW72ED @ 420mm / HEQ5-Pro / ASI183MC-Pro / SV165+SV305 / Kstars+Ekos

NGC4945: 360*20" + 120*30" + 60*60"
NGC5128: 60*60"

All at Gain 100, Offset 10, Temp = 0 degrees with 50 flats / darks / darkflats per exposure duration.

Stacked and pre-processed with Siril, finished with Affinity Photo.

Cheers,
V

Nice work V. Glad you finally got a break in the clouds.

It's just not the same though without the story, I got a coffee and all.

Yeah, it's been cloudy down here. So getting a clear sky is a minor miracle.

I'll do better words with the next image, oska. Just for you.

Steve,
Nice captures.
Yeh, there is a lot to reveal in Cent A with decent exposure. I too haven't paid it all that much attention in the past but must say it is a lovely galaxy. I recon your stars are pretty good so maybe try for two minute subs next time and see what more you can extract. You have picked up the outer glob ok under bortle 6 skies so well done!

Thanks Anthony!

If/when the skies clear, I'll have a go at 120" and see what comes out.

Cheers,
V
