Which Linux distribution for old laptop

One of my kids recently gave me back an old Toshiba laptop I had given her way back when. I've replaced the battery and upgraded the RAM to the max 2GB it will take but I have no shortage of lappies so I am pondering what I can usefully do with it. Linux comes to mind but this is an old 33 bit machine so modern variants won't suit.

What do you folks suggest? Nothing rude please.

Hi Peter,

Wow. 32-bit and 2GB. Not much will fit into that now. Very few Linux distributions support 32-bit these days, so you're probably best off wiping it and taking it to an e-waste disposal place.

If you really, really want to do something useful with it, then installing Devuan (a Debian derivative with the systemd-cancer removed) and using it as a Pi-Hole (Ad / malware blocking via DNS) might make an interesting project.

Regards,
V.

Whilst 32 bit support has reduced drastically there are still enough options these come to mind:
- Debian
- LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition)
- Devuan
- NixOS
- Sparky Linux
- openSuse (tumbleweed)
- Alpine Linux

+1 for pihole as an option
