I chose Chelsea, not that I really know much about either teams !
Should be interesting to see how the new stadium goes, given all the controversy.

I didn't watch it - I need my beauty sleep desperately these days - but if the reports that I have read are truthful (in the press?) I didn't miss much. Then again, exciting FACC finals are few and far between.

Next year it'll be Bolton raising the cup.

Was a shocker, John.

Such a disappointment, considering the quality of players on display.

Another final where both teams were more intent on not losing, rather than winning.

More often I prefer the semi finals and quarter finals. Those games are usually played in a completely different fashion. Far more attacking.

I am a Liverpool Suporter and as I was observing I did not watch it,I am not bothered who won but it will be a different story this coming Thursday morning our time Liverpool play for the Champions league cup in Athens. Go the Pool.
Just as a post script Most finals are not the best advert for the particular sport they represent.

All very true, Ron.

But this one was exceptionally poor.

Good luck Liverpool.

Hi all

Stayed up and watched till the final 30 minutes (extra time). My prediction was that is was going to be a penalty shoot out - with Chelsea winning, glad they won!

Cheers Petra

Onya Petra.

It really did look headed for penalties, didn't it.

The best part about it was seeing the new Wembley Stadium.

What a great theatre for years of sporting events to come.

By the way.... folks, you can stop voting now.

The game was played hours ago and the final result is now known!!!!

Well done Chelsea. 1-nil in extra time.

It seems to be the general consensus among neutrals, Matt. Blimey, even the darlings of the southern (UK) press expressed the same opinion which is saying something.

Good luck to you, Ron, in the CL final. The 'Pool haven't been all that flash this last season but they've earned their place in this one.

Thanks John, I hope the overprised Aussie Harry Cool, if he playes gives them something back, after keeping him on their books for so long.
Fingers crossed.
I also think the foregn managers have less respect for the FA Cup than the British managers.
The Champions league and the premier league being their main target.

I don't think so, Ron. It's simply a matter of money these days. There's no 'town pride', even in the 'small town' management. If the club is in the Premier League every league position gained is quite a few bob plonked into the club's coffers. Bean-counter-wise it makes sense but it certainly takes away from the competition itself.

While I can understand that outlook it does, in my opinion, take away from the thrill of competing in a top quality (?) competition. Managers who put out a 'reserve', or at least under strength, side against weaker opposition makes a farce of the idea of providing spectators with what they deserve.

Maybe time has blurred my memory but I'm sure that a few decades past you wouldn't find clubs using the F.A.C.C. games to blood new players. The 'League Cup' on the other hand to me is a different kettle of fish and I see it as purely a money spinner (money from the fans). Get rid.

No wonder few fans turn up at some of these games.
