celestron nexstar goto

hello all . i have been gifted a 114 nexstar goto scope without a hand controller . unknown if the mount works at all so i am looking at trying to operate it from a laptop via cable directly to the laptop . i dont want to fork out $250 plus for a hand controller or wifi dongle in case it is nothing more than a paper weight . im wondering if anyone has had a play with this set up or is it feasible . i own a skywatcher goto mount but as you know celestrons are not compatible with anything else . any ideas would be greatly appreciated .

Why not try and locate a local astro club. Someone is likely to have a celestron hand controller you can use...
