Hi Mick,
That 300EDIF is an exceptional lens for astrophotography. I can use it wide open f4 and it’s sharp to the corners.
Your result doesn’t surprise me because the comet had faded and shrunk dramatically over the week between my image and your attempt. I was hosting six people for a visual observation night last weekend so didn’t try but visually it had faded a lot.
