Occasionally I relive my time in the Warrior VH-WHA, this time I went to Scotland enjoyed the views and headed over to Stirling…..
I couldn’t help it when I saw the bridges….
Exciting!!!
Someone asked why does the image seem to show two railway bridges superimposed??
Good call!
It came from the introduction of some enhanced scenery for Edinburgh.
I've removed this package and we're now back to one Red forth railway bridge.
My better half bought me a VR experience flying a jet fighter. I managed to fly under the Golden gate bridge and almost managed to do a loop over and back under. i should look at the footage again, cause maybe I did make it!
Finding the landing field was hard! At least i managed to get it down in one piece.
Sounds like fun!!
I find the latest MSFS2020 has dramatically improved my level of excitement with the flight simulator.
The quality of the aircraft and the detailed scenery make it a joy to fly.
I've been flying FS since the 80's and designed a range of Merlin engined Spitfires back in the 90's. I thought they were pretty good, but to be honest they now look very dated and inferior.
Such is life!
I've tried a couple of the Flight sims on the computer, but, none have grabbed me. I suspect because my screen was usually on the small side and no feedback.
I've been up in light aircraft and gliders, using the controls, would love to get a pilots license sometime.
Philip,
I went solo in Piper Warrior VH-WHA in 1998.
The MSFS2020 is definitely the way to go!! It's got everything....
BUT
it does need a hot PC/ laptop i7 with memory, a very recent and fast video card Nvidia RTX 3050 (or better) and a large external monitor.
Never said it was cheap!!!
I had to replace my MSI hot shot, only three yo with the latest MSI RTX gaming machine, I also went for a new flight yoke, throttle quadrant and rudder pedals. (The old one's still worked but I couldn't find a buyer!!!!)
I still use the ol' Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 joystick - unfortunately MSFS haven't introduced force feedback yet but you can get a third party plug in which does give some sense of variable forces.....
If you're ever in the Bendigo area, let me know, and you can visit to see (and try!) my set up.

I have had a crack in one of the B737 simulators a couple of times, quite immersive for something which does not move. The first time the "instructor" had me do basically all the work manually and the second time (With my young bloke) it was a lot more automated, with us using auto throttles and so on, but having to still control it by yoke and rudder pedals and do all the configuration stuff to set a heading and manage the speed as well as gear and flaps and so on. Pretty good fun to do every couple of years.
That is the one, take off, circuit and land at Tulla this time, then Aukland. I can't recall which two the young fella did. Just for a bit of entertainment I was given an engine failure for Aukland, with the operator asking a bit closer in if she should kill the other "You should be able to make it from here"
The first time I did it a few years ago the tricky bit was a landing at the old Kai Tak, approaching over the city.
