Ztf 2022 e3

I tried to image ZTF when it first poked its nose over the north horizon last Sunday. Even though it was 5 deg at transit, the full Moon washed out any chance.

I drove up to my property after work yesterday with a mate and we set up for a nights observing and photography.

I used a Rokinon 135mmED f2 and a Pentax 300mm f4 EDIF. The 135 mm shots were ok but I'm quite happy with the 300mm lens.

A Queensland newspaper is publishing the image tomorrow in the Sunday papers.

Images were captured over a couple of minutes at Feb 10, 12hrs UT 11pm local time. Gibbous moon rose at 11:25UT
Pentax K1 DSLR ISO 3200 7 x 20s. Pentax 300mm f4 EDIF

The dark sky creeping in at the bottom is from the gradual encroachment of my shed into the frame. Not something that could be flat fielded out

Hi Duncan,
Between Moon and low altitude, it really wasn't worth the effort until Friday night anyway.
