14 Feb 2023 Sol

Hi All,

The sun is still putting on quite a show.

Taken with a Lunt 60Ha, doublestacked with a 50Ha etalon. ASI174MM camera using Firecapture, Astrosurface for stacking and wavelets, the Photoshop and Lightroom.

Experimented a little with framerates, better image with a slower framerate, 30 vs 100, pretty much the oppposite from what I expected.

Enjoy.

Stu

Nice image Stu. The slower frame rate is definitely counterintuitive and hard to make sense of. Do you mean just the frame rate or did you change the exposure that changed the frame rate? A longer exposure definitely is not a good thing as you are trying to freeze the turbulence. Less than 10ms is the go (if possible) and is the whole basis of lucky imaging. Astrosurface looks interesting.
