Very nice stringscope! Have you put it on a new groundboard to increase the height, or is that on an EQ platform?

Also, where do you have the dew heaters placed?

Mike,

No its not a EQ platform.............maybe one day!!

The original mid-90's Celestron rocker box and ground board were quite poorly designed and constructed. The original ground board is now the rocker box base which rides on 3 industrial solid rubber wheels mounted on a new ground board. The wheels added another 100mm or so to the eyepiece height which makes for more comfortable observing. The whole mount is only so-so and is on borrowed time pending completing of the stringscope.

Home made dew heates are fitted to scope and finder eyepieces (1.5W each), finder objective (4W) and Telrad (1W). battery pack fitted to bottom rear of tube providing londitudinal and radial conterweight effect.

Ving, What size is your finder? I made a heater for my 8 x 50 finder, using "Electric blanket" heater wire. I only did the objective lens cos when I'm not using it, I put the E/Pc cap back on.
The diam. of the 'big' end is 60 mm, so I used 2 turns,(approx 300 mm), of wire & tapped it about 60 mm in from the end to give me a high & low setting.
If you want more info. will try to draw diagram & post.

Move post if nec. L.

Dennis! Well I'm glad I didn't offer a prize for correctly guessing the guider I call it an ST5c because no software I've seen actually supports the Pixcel 255 anymore. Lucky it has a dual personality!

An EM-200, can't wait to see that one! The clouds have sucked big time lately. I've been hanging to try the Intes at f24 with my new 4x Powermate.

Good to hear from you and I look forward to seeing you at Astrofest this year.

BTW: Congratulations on your mammoth moon/jupiter mosaic in the latest AS&T (that was yours wasn't it?). It's a great picture. I love how both the moon and jupiter are clear as a bell. Well done.
