Seagull mosaic

My first mosaic. Even at 450mm I couldn't quite get all of the seagull in. The first session came out so well I grabbed the other wing and ended up with a circumstantial mosaic (snack pack?)

I kinda like leaving in some green and ending up with a rainbow-ish effect. I also took a second go at the data and tried to give it the more traditional SHO treatment.

EON85 + 0.8reducer, 450mm
ASI1600MM + Antlia Pro SHO
Roughly 1hr each per panel of 180s 200g 25o -10C (6hrs)
50 F & DF, 30 D

NINA + APP + PI

I had to actually de-saturate it after combination

Love that version with green in it. Outstanding effort, especially for a 1st mosaic. Nice work!

Brilliant John - I really need to fill out my NB filters rather than living on Ha...

Saving for the Antlia Pro OIII, don't think I have the patience to save for the whole set, that would take until May or June...

A great looking pair of images, John. Top stuff.

I prefer the second image as the nebula stands out more from the background.

Cheers,
V

Thanks Alex.

Cheers Steve, the 'why' matters perhaps more than the 'what'

Outstanding image. I agree the second Sho is a little more crisp.
I took a few shots of that Monday as a trial , perfectly located right now, so thanks for posting that.

John, excellent work here. Some lovely colours coming out. Noise is kept quite well under control too. Great job

Thanks Ray.

Cheers Stephane, I reckon it's GHS doing the hard work, fantastic tool.

John, jeeeez mate you're killing it with the mono setup. They're great images and if I had to pick one, it would be the 'rainbow' image - it's mesmerising. How are combining these in PI. LRGB? Channel Combination? The NBRGB script? Something else? I'm interested as I'm starting to play in PI with faux NB data extracted from OSC images (shot with Ha/OIII NB filter) and while it's not the same as pure mono, processing them seems quite similar if not exactly the same. Cheers Alex. I must say I'm lovin' it.
Sorry I meant to put the processing steps in the post.
Stacked/mosaic in APP.
BlurX->NoiseX->GHS (2 passes)->LRGBcombination(No L, chrominance NR on)->Curves(desaturate, touch of contrast)->StarX->SCNR(green 19%)->yellow mask->Curves(bring up the red and decrease blue & green a touch)->rescreen stars.
I reckon it could do with RGB stars and I would have, if not for the clouds for days.
Good as totally the same for mine, but I'm an athiest There are pixelmath "recipies" for synthetic S2 if you're inclined.

Hey John,

Stunning image. I like the second one more.

I am interested in your star workflow for your NB. Will give it a try although I agree we should just shoot RGB stars.

Thanks for sharing,

Dilshan

Thanks Dilshan. The best PI tip I can give is GHS (Generalised Hyperbolic Stretch). Watch a few tutorials on it, particularly Paulyman Astro. BlurX does wonders but not as good overall as GHS, in "general utility" I mean.
