A Horse in Ha

A few clear hours last night so with the moon around picked the Horsehead Nebula (IC 434) / Flame Nebula (NGC 2024) and surrounds for some H-alpha imaging.

ASI294MM Pro @ 0°C
102mm ED F7 + 0.8x flattener/reducer (F5.5 @ 560mm)
7mn Ha filter
AZ-EQ5 Pro
Orion 50mm Mini guide scope, ASI120MM-S guide camera
36 x 300 sec lights - 3 hours total.
32 x darks
30 x flats & dark flats
Captured using APT with PHD2 for guiding. Stacked with ASTAP & stretched in Photoshop.

Maybe one day I'll get the right weather to get the RGB data to go with it, but the way it's been I will probably have time to save up for my other NB filters before then...

Cheers,
Mark

Very sharp! I like it a lot, and can't wait to see what adding the RGB data will do.

Thanks guys - my only problem is that I'm enjoying the Ha results so getting around to the RGB with limited sky time is...hard.

Fantastic detail in that Ha data! It’s really hard to keep momentum on a project when you can’t get consecutive clear nights but hope you can finish it this season! Looking forward to seeing the final result
