I have a Robofocus motor and 3.1 controller that’s been sitting around in my cupboard for years, it includes the cables to connect it but I don’t have an RJ232 cable to connect it to a computer to see that’s its fully working. I have connected it to a 12 volt power supply and the motor moves via the controller buttons so I am assuming its all ok. If it’s not working I will refund your money.
