Thumbs up Jupiter in excellent seeing - 11th May

Hi all

Here's the best image from data captured on the night of the 11th May. I had a great patch of seeing for about an hour, in which time I captured about 5 great runs of Jupiter, including her moons.

The moons were just outside the FOV and are being processed separately. They'll be combined into a huge image later. Probably an animation too. I'm not done with this data yet!

Captured at 11:45pm local time, at 1/30s exposure (30fps), gain 100%, gamma 18. Captured for 40 seconds each channel. 600 frames from each channel were stacked to make the final result.

12" newt on EQ6, DMK21AF04 + 5x powermate, Astronomik RGB filters. Focal length was 10,386mm.

There's some amazing detail visible, including the STrD-2, what appears to be a line of small red spots in the NTZ, the LRS in the NNTZ and many more fine spots.

This is probably one of my most detailed Jupiter images to-date. I can't wait to finish processing the moons.

Thanks for looking.

Great work, Mike!!!

You've captured a fantastic level of detail, and the processing is very nice.

I'm glad you made the most of the conditions last Friday.

Can't wait to see how the moons come up

Amazing amount of detail Mike.
The wide tonal range of colours you've captured is fantastic.

Wow, great image Mike! Your blue channel is incredible... Mine blue channels always leave blurred.

regards,
Fabio
