Resolving power of the 300mm Flourite lens

Hi all
While using Houghys cooled DSLR and the 300mm f2.8 lens from Bert, I did a colour unfiltered image of the Toby Jug Nebula, an object normally far too small for only 300mm Fl.
3x2 mins ISO400 stopped down to f4.5

Full res crop from centre shown.
Full res version (large download) here
http://www.iceinspace.com.au/uploads...mm%20lensb.jpg neb 3x2minsiso400 300mm lensb.jpg
Only the IDAS UV/IR filter was used. Sensor temp around 4 degrees.

Sharp stars to the very corners
Scott

Geez Scott,

The way you are advancing, the Scientific and Astronomical Pros will be studying your pics instead of their own

You have to copy and paste the whole line in new browser window, not just click on the underscored part, because there are some spaces in the link:

What a wonderful result, that lens is magnificent.
I don't know about the camera though, looks like poor Houghy will have to sell it off cheap to me.

Yeah, but its not second hand any more - try third or fourth. Should really knock the price down, but it gives great imaging. Im thinking of a cooled 400d for myself
