Impressive prominences on the sun today 22 August 2022

The forecast was for quite a deal of rain today so when we woke to some sunshine, we set up to image only to get a couple of seconds of video when threatening clouds forced a hurried pack up. It was very surprising when by lunchtime the sky had totally cleared again. So on a second attempt we captured these images. We were particularly happy because we had been tracking a large quiescent filament to the west of AR3081 over the last few days. Today it had finally reached the limb to become a very large and impressive prominence. Coupled with a second large prom slightly to the north, they put on quite a show!
We have added an Earth to the image to give scale.

Full disk Ha images taken with Daystar Solar Scout 60 double stacked with Lunt 40 etalon, ASI178MM camera and 0.5 reducer.
