The Path is to long so I'm told

Hi Guys.
Now this is interesting and has never cropped up before while i was adjusting a couple of images.

I was trimming a photo like i always do and then when i was saving the result i was given an error message which said. "The path you have entered is to long please enter a shorter path".

Could someone please explain what this means and how to fix it.

Have to say though, this has only occurred on one folder of photos, and all the other folders are fine, so I am a little stumped here,

We know that doesn't take much sometimes

Leon

Your file might be nested too deeply in subdirectories mate. See if you can simplify the directory structure a little and that should solve it.

The path is limited to 260 characters in windows.

So all the directories leading up to your file (not sure if it includes the filename itself or not) have to be less than 260 characters, so you either need to move the directory to a simpler file structure OR rename some of the directories in the path to shorter names.

Ok thank you for your responses, I will see how that goes.

It is not a very important set of photos so if all goes wrong I can always delete it i suppose, however I will try what you said and I will always know if this happens again.
