EAA Version of The Trifid

I thought that I might contribute an EAA image for anyone interested. This image was taken using Sharpcap Pro and consists of 23 x 2m frames thru a C9.25 at f/6.3 with an ASI533MC-PRO (off axis guided and dithered). It was worth looking at after the second frame interestingly and my daughter and I looked at the screen with interest as the ensuing frames built up. I would probably call it a slow-cook EAA picture as I usually use about 30 second subs where I can. I've found that these longer subs really help with colour over the 30 second subs though.

We sat there warmly in my shed drinking tea, eating chips and chatting as the image built. It was a really nice thing to do.

For me I call this EAA but maybe I've crossed the line lol. However, it actually doesn't matter as we have a great time. One thing I noticed was that my Celestron focal reducer suffers from CA which is more prominent with longer exposures I did post process this image the next day in Photoshop to remove the CA but that was it. I'm not sure that my guiding is up to scratch currently but I still have my L plates on and continue to learn

Nice EAA view of the Trifid. Your C925 sure gets up nice and close to the target. It is showing some good detail in the dust lanes.

I must post some EAA observations myself.

Thanks Steve. And that was at f/6.3 too lol. I mostly use the C9.25 for galaxies and PN but The Trifid was a good fit too. I’ll look forward to seeing some EAA from you when you have time to share mate. I might throw a few more shots up into this thread in the coming days if I have time.

Very nice capture Dean! Well it may be across the line for some, but that’s the kind of slow cooking I’m into too… I reckon if the rig is up to it, pushing some longer subs always brings some very nice additional colour/detail, and then if all runs smoothly save the subs for some extra processing later. Pretty much all my image capture is done while livestacking - it’s just really fun watching an image develop. I use photoshop express to do some editing on the fly while things are running too

Thanks David. I really should start saving my subs. It would certainly get me out of hot water if Sharpcap stacked one bad frame, which happened to me the other night when I was imaging the Prawn. Great advice mate.
