greenhouses

in northern Europe there is in almost every garden a little greenhouse,
for protecting plants in spring or fall against chill.
Most of you in down under will not need such a greenhouse,
but may be even so?

here is my little greenhouse

I remember when I lived in London, many people had greenhouses. We certainly don't need them here tho. Thanks for sharing your greenhouse with us Ispom

Lovely looking garden Ispom.

In southern Victoria and Tasmania I imagine there are quite a few greenhouses for extending the growing season. As a kid my family had a greenhouse made of glass and I remeber growing tomatoes.

Hi Ispom, I intend to have a greenhouse for my 2 hectare farm block.
where we are we can still get some nasty frosts right through to the middle of spring. My tomatoes tend to get very upset otherwise and it also stops the Kangaroos from eating all the seedlings.

Cheers

Tony and Ric,

well, mostly for tomatoes the little greenhouse is built.

in fall I sow parsley,
and yesterday I plant tomatoes.
field grown tomatoes here in northern Germany in cold and moist summers become moldering,
only with shelter they are safety.

Watermelons I've also tried - but they were only little and not sweet

Yeah I lived in misty (dreary) London when I was younger. Popular with many Aussies but not my cup of tea.

Ispom, i have worked nearly half my live in glasshouses, we were in the cut flower business, mainly Carnations, but also some other types of flowers.

The people i used to work for were Dutch, where glasshouse production of flowers are usually in glasshouses.

interesting Leon,

but for flowers I can wait up to they are blossom outdoor,
however I need parsley soon in early spring,
and the tomatoes may not molder in a cold summer….
