I’m transitioning the fsq-85 rig to a fully automated setup and thus may now prefer a dedicated Astro camera.
Notwithstanding that the principal behind the Ra and the reason I bought it is simplicity and the ability to negate the use of a computer. Combined with the MGen 3 autoguiding solution it works a treat. Focusing on the back of the camera at 30x takes seconds. It produces spectacular results and on the few occasions I’ve used it for testing not having cooling hasn’t been a problem at all.
The camera comes with the original box and bits. I have only used a few times for Astro but actually, thanks to some excellent work by Canon with the AWB it works almost perfectly for daytime use too. I’ve take portraits etc and nobody would know they were taken with an Astro camera.
These are next to impossible to buy now anywhere I n the world because Canon discontinued it in September 2021. Actually this is my second one and by the time I bought this (Sept 21) it had been discontinued here but I could still buy from Hong Kong. You can no longer do so.
