AZEQ6 and Skysafari
Reading a bunch of threads on this topic, I didn't think Skysafari would work with my AZEQ6 but it turns out that it works really well. I start up the synscan pro app and start from 'home' then swap over to Skysafari plus 6 and hit the connect button and it connects up just fine. Occasionally, it will still try and 'goto' the wrong way and threaten to drive the scope into the mount, but I can loosen the clutches and do a manual meridian flip and skysafari will keep track of where the mount is - you can hit 'lock' on the screen and it keeps where the scope is pointed in the middle of the screen regardless what you do with the mount. There's also an 'align' button that allows you to sync where the scope is pointed to what's displayed on the screen (I think you can do a two star alignment this way).
All in all, it was the most pleasurable scope pointing experience I think I've had! Particularly finding stuff like carbon stars that are not listed in the synscan handset or being able to see something nearby on the screen and just be able to tap/goto for a look with all the object info on hand.
Now if only I could get the PPEC to function properly......
