Good Bye Ebay.............

There is no way I am going to do this ....!!

You have just lost me.....I'll source somewhere else, or go with out ...!!

You may find this is necessary for a ' legit ' business ...but as a ' private ' citizen, this is just another platform for your ' sensitive ' details to be exposed to unauthorized people.

TOO INTRUSIVE for me.

Yes they seem to change their payment model and want to take everything on board without using PayPal. I think this is designed for listings that are on eBay but might have been listed and sold on other platforms like gumtree or other. I recently sold a car. I ended up having to delist it on eBay. It was very hard to do. You can't easily remove something you don't want to sell. So this is another way of locking you in. Likely slug you with a fee for "breaching listing contract" or something like that.

ebay

Ditched ebay a while ago, never looked back. Did the same with paypal who wanted to block my account because I had two email addresses. I still order things and pay online.

This has to be an elaborate phishing scam, surely.

It's definitely a great opportunity for identity theft. Next they'll want colour photocopies of your credit cards. There's a LOT of trust that goes into supplying the info that they're demanding. Not for me either.

I think this is a scam, especially as the letter does not address you by name or have your account number.

I got this request precisely through eBay messaging, verified by eBay (I sent them an email). It is legit.

MANAGED PAYMENTS will new payment management system. If you want to continue to sell on EBAY you must switch to MANAGED PAYMENTS.

With MANAGED PAYMENTS it takes 3-5 days for money to be deposited into your CHECKING ACCOUNT.

CUSTOMERS call still use PAY PAL and many other options for purchases (but money does not go into YOUR PayPal).

I never sell anything...if I have had a good run and I dont use something I give it to a friend who can use it...not houses but I would rather let a friend use it than rent it.

For now, you can still buy on eBay without engaging with their Managed Payments system (I use PayPal). But to sell, you have to use their system and provide all that ID.

I just don't sell on eBay anymore. Meh.

It may weed out some of the shonky sellers. How many times have you found an item advertised as being located in Australia only to find:

1. The item arrives weeks later from China;
2. The money is paid to someone other than the seller and usually somewhere outside China.

This might make it a bit harder to be a shonk. That has to be a plus.

Same here.

I get what they are trying to do - make it safer for buyers -
but it is just too hard to sell stuff on ebay now...
