Extra Sim Card for my Telstra Wi Fi
Hi Guys I use Telstra 4G WiFi for my internet and it is a pre/paid service, we have always had this as we travel a lot and it just works for us wherever we are.
The question is this: I have two units and use one inside and want to have the service else where on the property, and yes you say take the one with you, but i was wondering can i get an extra sim card for the one that i want to use elsewhere.
Just get an extra card so to speak, is this possible please.
Thanks in advance.

Na Alex It is not a Phone, these are two WiFi Portable devices that one can take anywhere, I have two and use one in the house, but the signal wont reach the studio, so I figured it I got another Card for the second one i could just leave that in the Studio when i do stuff in there rather than taking the one in the house with me.
Just a thought, but no big deal really, just being lazy

They used to do data sharing between multiple devices on one account but I think they have stopped doing that. If they still do it you could get a second service on the same account to share data between them. Aside from that it would probably mean just setting up a second account, but you pay twice.

See if you can convert to 5G, it is so much better. I just checked the coverage map for Ballarat and 5G is available in some areas. My 5G phone has internet speed performance equal, and often better, than my dedicated NBN landline. I find NBN can bog down at certain times of the day, like evenings when millions are watching Netflix, but the 5G never degrades.
As far as travel affect is concerned, 5G is available through out major population centres and along many of the roads and transport corridors.5G will fallback to 4G if the 5G network is out of reach.

Leon - yes - your local T-shop will be able to sort you out.
You of course can get another pre-paid sim...and pay twice....
or go post-paid and get a data shared plan. They still do this -
i data share between my phone and tablet.

Alex - this is also possible at a cost....sort of....
there is a feature called 'simultaneous ringing' where your
land line and mobile will ring at the same time...
its a business feature and is bound to be .exe,
but is used by the likes of tradies who may or may not be
in an office at any given time...

Yes I do Steve, thank you, I have used it a lot when i had to hook up that Antenna when i was well away from a good reception, it worked a dream.
So now I'm in a position to use the original one i had with out the antenna and that works a treat as well at my different location.
So I have the Original and the other one and all I really was asking can i go to Telstra and ask for another identical card of the one that i currently use and stick it in the other unit and have two units with the same card just being in different locations.
I mean when i go to my other location I suppose I can just take the original with me, but I had a brain wave of sorts and wondered if it was possible, to have two on the same plan, without extra costs etc
thanks for listening.

Short answer is no. You can’t have 2sims with the same number.

True....but this is irrelevant for portable 4g hotspots...
you can have 2 4G sims on the one plan that share the data limit between them.
I know this because i have such a plan.

Sharkbite, Leon is using a prepaid service. data sharing only works with plan accounts that are linked.. Don’t think you can share data on Prepaid.
My old legacy plan came with a ‘data only’sim that was linked to my phone number and used the same data.
You can’t share data with 2 different prepaid sims.
