I was looking to mount a mobile phone out on the dew shield slightly above the focuser line and using skysafari etc as a voice operated push to Dob. The program states .5 degree accuracy which for my needs should be fine.
However I was wondering if anyone had put a zoom/ x10 mag... lens on the apps to see if the plate resolving would proved a higher degree of accuracy.
If you have used a home-made "starsense" phone holder how did it go? Will using a zoom over the phone camera provide better plate resolution?

Clip on zoom lens at x8 or x12, but I'm not sure what happens to plate solving under mag with free software, if they have more detailed plates available.
