Post congatulations Astronut!

MacArthur Astromonical Society had its A.G.M. on monday night where after years of service our beloved leader resigned from his position. A new president was to be elected and the lucky guy is no other than John (astronut). You have big shoes to fill mate but you have the whole club behind you all the way and I look forward to many more years of MAS membership.
(is it 3 years I have been a member now? )

So, it is will heartfelt sincerity I give my congratulations to John, the new president of MacArthur Astronomical Society. Couldn't have happened to a better guy

[thought i might share this news with IIS since he is a member here ]

I add my hearty congratulations too John. It's you who makes the time to stick by us, and even if there's just me saying "yes" to a solitary observation session out at Stargard, you'll be there helping - every time. Thanks John - it's great to see you as Pres. Congratulations to the rest of the new committee as well.

Cheers
Chris & Jenny

Yes well done, this is what you are in for:

President is a title held by many leaders of organizations, companies, universities, and countries. Etymologically, a "president" is one who presides, who sits in leadership (from Latin prae- "before" + sedere "to sit"). Originally, the term usually referred to the presiding officer of a ceremony or meeting (i.e. chairman); but today it most commonly refers to an official with executive powers.
