Sh2_63 Barnards mosaic

My first attempt at a mosaic, 2 panel......what a steep learning curve

I posted Sh2-63 earlier and finally got back to it as a mosaic to include Barnards galaxy, Mike did a fantastic version of this area some time ago.

Not sure about this as yet, i have other versions, but I would like some suggestions if you think any changes or improvements.

Star colours seem to have all but disappeared?

Loving all that dust though!

Love it. But as Andy said some star colours would just make it complete.

The colour data is probably there as its from a 16200 so not easily over exposed.

I imaged this area myself last week but I didn't get that large area of dust in it. I should see if a mosaic would pick it up as well.

See Mike Sidonio's version of this object. There is some Ha and O111 in Barnard's Galaxy as well.

Thanks Andy, I boosted the star colors a bit, I dont like them overly saturated

Thanks Greg, I have added some star colour, but as I said, I dont like too much. I did take some Ha, there is quite a bit in the area but I didnt like what it did to the image, maybe later.

That looks great and you've got some interesting colour shades in the dusty areas looks good.

Very cool George, very few images out there that frame these two babies in one shot Nice work on the mozaic too. When I was planning my shot two years ago, it was the closest I have come to finally biting the bullet and trying a mozaic , to get almost this exact FOV ....buuuut, hey, I capitulated and went for the fit'em (squeeze-em) both in one frame, approach

PS. My shot of this field managed to make the cut for my wife's new astro wall at our new place I never have any say in what images of mine she choses to print, she likes minimalism...

Excellent widefiled. Lot of detail and colour in the various structures. I have been trying to check Barnards and having difficulty seeing in a short sub.

Your wide image will be a good guide to view to be expected.

Thanks Ray, I did take 10min Lum subs and at f 3.8 it did bring out more detail

It was your shot that made me realise there’s so much dust. A surpring amount of Ha is also in the field but I haven’t included it ..yet Like you I’ve put off doing mosaics but I couldn’t fit both in one frame. After a bit of fiddling, it turned out to be easier than I thought

The dust detail is superb. When Tom Davis was posting here I always admired his images which were full of the faint dust. Nice to see you gathering images with faint dust.

Thanks Paul, I find that these dark and dusty areas are just as interesting as the “shiny” things. The complexity of what can be visible just astounds me

Thanks again Greg, I used both colour calibration and photmetric colour calibration in Pixinsight for the same result, not sure of the accuracy but, yes, interesting

Thanks Rodney, agreed that it’s worth further exploration, next year I might add to this with some more panels to see what else there is to find,
