The Companion of Antares

In and around last years lockdown I rebuilt a 16-inch Meade Starfinder into a truss tube Dob. I call it Tiny, the telescope. I use it on a Blandin equatotial platform which gives me smooth tracking.

Tiny had its first imaging session and this was one of my first targets.

That's a great shot Richard. Nice colors and separation. I like what you did with the scope trusses. How long can you expose while tracking before you see any noticeable drift? Is that fitted with an Argo Navis?

Hi Marc,

Even guessing the polar alignment for visual use it hardly shows any drift. For photography I use SharpCap and live stack with very short subs so drift is not too much of an issue.

Richard.

Hi Marc,

My planets app says it will be early Monday morning. Is that right? Should be stunning.
Not sure I can manage it from my home but will explore further.

Richard.
