Battery for 12mm cordless illuminated reticle?

Hi guys

I want to replace the battery in my 12mm cordless illuminated reticle that I got from Bintel.

What is the make/model of the battery?

I didn't bring it with me today and i'm heading over to DSE so want to get it then.

Must remember to turn it off next time

I decided not to be so lazy and rang Bintel.

Michael Chaytor tells me it's an LR44. I'll go get one soon!

It uses two 1.5 volt LR-44 button-type alkaline camera batteries or their equivalent (MR-44, SR-44, 357, etc.).

Hi Mike

Check and see if you don’t need two – these normally operate in pairs I think?

Cheers

doh, went to dick smith looking for power pack batteries, and they didn't have any - so I came out with nothing. Forgot to get the LR44 batteries!

Ive done that a fair number of times over the years.

The batteries in my old Lumicon are hard to come by, only seem to be sold in some watch shops (they are watch batteries).
So I always carry a couple of spares

I checked an Orion 12.5mm and the illuminator does take 3 of the thin Silver Oxide batteries. Look for the following codes: SR54/RW49/AG10/G10/SG10 or 554.

As an emergency replacement the 2x LR44 batteries will work but the LED is a little dimmer running off 3V rather than 4.5V.

Lucky you forgot to get them Mike.

Thanks Mike - I didn't even realise it took 2 or 3.. I would've walked out with just 1.. I would've felt the right fool

Got 3 batteries from DSE yesterday, costing $4 each.. Makes it an expensive exercise if you need to replace them often. Mental note: TURN IT OFF AFTER USE!
