hello friends, have been plugging away since Dec 20 with this, but would say on average 4-6 hours per month then edited.
I added some more this month for the HDR M42 but haven't worked out a way to blend it into the mosaic, and this week did the top part above M42- 3 hours before trees and clouds stopped play (and work)
It's a little bit shonky but then so am I!!

A lot of work. Ideally done with a full frame sensor and it would be a lot easier.

But it going to have some good resolution.

Thanks mates, started a new job in Feb so skytime has been a bit scarce. Not sure about cropping the horrible bits off yet- may well go back and re photo the shonky bits. And use this as a guide..

Hi! Greg, I tried it with a canon 6D unmodded first and got terrible concentric artifacts on the pics, same mount and guiding. They were unuseable. Plus I do get some light pollution here in the city. I will save the canon for darker skies one day.

I don't know if the 6D has it but turn off auto lens corrections as auto vignette correction can do that. Well known artifact of the Sony A7 series in particular A7iii.

I cannot from memory think of a better Barnard's Loop.

A strong feeling that you're being "true to the light" here, rather than agonizing over processing tricks.

For sure. You plug the holes when you have time. It's Jazz imaging.

Thanks all!! I don’t know many processing tricks so mainly true to light. The top was taken with more light pollution I seem to recall. I want to re frame it properly but have been on call last few weekends- at least it’s getting darker early now!!

Cool presentation Graham, I was thinking the same as Mike and Trish Mozaics that are not trimmed always look more science/survey like too
