Horsehead Nebula (IC 434) in Bicolour

Here is my rendition of the Horsehead Nebula in Bicolour (Hα & Oiii) taken in mid Dec. I wanted to capture in landscape to get the wall as much as possible but the flare from Alnitak is a bummer. I should probably should have framed it better.

Image capture details are as follows :-

Takahashi µ250CRS @ native 2500mm F10
Vixen AXD Mount
ASI6200MM/EFW/ZWO filters
-10C 100 Gain 50 Offset
ASI174mm mini guide cam on ZWO OAG M68
63x 5 min Hα over 2 nights
48x 5 min Oiii over 2 night
(Total 9.25hrs)

30x flats of each filter
30x flat dark matching for each filter flat
50x darks

Acquisition managed by N.I.N.A.

Cheers. I've gone for a PixelMath instead of ChannelCombination. I played around with different combinations before settling down on this. After full moon, I may consider capturing some Sii to get an SHO to see how it looks like.

That light refraction still bugs me .

Nice work Sean. Dealing with Alnitak is a reality to be dealt with when imaging this area and your final composition has handled it well. Reviewing the attached image shows plenty of fine detail. Just in case you weren’t aware, the Astrobin link is only displaying a thumb nail, not the full image. Good to see some results from the ASI6200 hitting the forum as well.

Thx for the kind messages all! I hope to capture some Sii after the moon is more agreeable to add to this pix.

Rodney, cheers for the information about the Astrobin link. I’ve update it. The ASI6200MM is a great camera. I still need to improve my skills on how to use it to its full potential.
