Just Checking that i have it right

Hi All.

After many hours of, to the East, to the Meridian, than back and forth to both again, and many slight turns of knobs etc, i think i might just have it pretty well on the money.

However i would just like to check with the many learned people out there, that my drift alignment method has been successful.

I have used a 9mm Meade Reticle with the double cross hairs with the small square in the middle, with the Takahashi 106, and on the G11 mount.

While tracking i was able to keep the star in the center of the square for 10 minutes plus, at the meridian, and in the East, however the Eastern horizon star tended to wobble a bit in the square but didn't leave it.

Would that be due to the low altitude of that star, and do you think that would surfice for a reasonable drift align.

Your comments would be much appreciated.

sound pretty good to me Leon. Was the wobble in RA or Dec for the eastern star?

Do you have K3CCDTools? You can use that to check your accuracy.

Thanks Paul, No i don't have that program you mentioned, and the slight wobble was in RA only

Leon,
When you build your Gemini pointing model you can use the PAC (Polar Axis Correction) feature to confirm how close to the pole you are. In fact, you don't need to actually run this feature. When ever you perform an additional align, look at the Gemini hand controller. It will tell you in the amount of error from the pole by the values of A:x and E:x

Ah yes i have read about this A and E stuff, Jase, i certainly work with that when i do do my aligning, that is next on the list, one thing at a time.
