Modded 300D - first light on IC434

Finally! the modded 300D has arrived first target ofcourse h-alpha sensitive the horsehead. 15 x 5mins at ISO800 with baader UHC-S and MPCC. I still need to get myself a UV/IR filter as personally, i think it is too red or maybe that im still not use to it. focusing was slightly off. Indeed now the red-channel is so much more sensitive than my unmodded 350D. H-Alpha gathering i think is too much and objects are abit too red. also, can anyone confirm with me that with the 300D, i have to crank more infocus than the 350D? it seems like it now. dark frames subtracted but it was too late for me to take my flats.

more to follow...

Cheers

Hi Eric, it is still a very nice image to start with. I'm sure you will sort the minor technical hitches in no time at all.

Cheers

Great first light image Eric. Really like how the frame is composed to cover key objects such as the flame and horsehead nebula as well. Good stuff.

Howdy
Nicely framed too.
I recommend the uv/ir filter as some IR does get past the lower end of the UHCS filter. I actually tested that earlier when sky was light, I shot the sky with and without the uv/ir filter with uhcs filter on both times. The shot with the uv/ir filter was darker and less pink. See my notes on your eta carina pic for how I colour balance modded camera pics.
