Saturn via Registax

Hello everyone,

Captured a couple of Saturn AVI's yesterday, and have had a go at reprocessing with Registax. Previously have used K3CCD. Have followed Mike's planetary processing how-to for the registax image .
The result has better detail than my processing with K3, but lacks colour. Can anyone point me in the right direction for getting the best of both worlds in a final image?

Regards,
David.

Hi David.
Is the one on the right the one through registax?
Are they both processed from the same data, or is one processed through k3 and one through registax?

In registax, make sure the "colour" box is ticked on the very first align tab, top left corner.

btw great looking saturn!

Thanks Mike,

Yes, the one on the right has been processed by Virtual Dub, Ppmcentre, RGBSplit, Registax and Astraimage. It is the recombined result after Astraimage, cut from a screen dump, as I only have the evaluation version. The one on the left was processed from the same AVI in K3 using the planetary wizard.

Regards,
David.

What are the equipment details? The division in the A ring is showing, so the resolution is pretty good.

Hi Geoff,

Equipment was Toucam via 2x barlow thru Meade 8" SCT mounted on GM8. Took about 1600 frames captured at 352 x 288 for faster download.

Regards,
David.
