This pier was originally intended to be used in a back-yard observatory but unfortunately that didn't eventuate. The base is 420mm in diameter and is made from 20mm thick steel. It is pre-drilled with four 22mm x 45mm slotted holes. The ‘fins’ are made from 10mm thick steel.
The pier itself is 1m tall measured to the base of the fitted adjustable 'wedge'. It is 170mm in diameter and is made from 5mm thick steel. It has a side port cut-out to allow access to the central bolt.
The included adjustable 'wedge' has been very well engineered by the original owner in steel/alloy and allows easy adjustment of the latitude angle. The assembly can be easily removed, leaving just the steel top-plate with threaded centre hole.
The cosmetic condition of the pier is fair to good and there is some surface rust on the top of the base, none of which affects the functionality in any way. I had trouble determining the value of this pier but came up with $420 ono as a start. As the pier is very heavy (I estimate 100Kg+), pick-up is the best option although I would consider delivery to within 50Km of the Macarthur region of Sydney, but only after the pier had been inspected in person.
