M20 Triffid Nebula

Hi guys,

Here's an early M20 taken last last night with the unmodded 350D. 10 x 5 minutes at ISO800 with the C10 F4.7 autoguided ED80 + Meade DSI II. MPCC and UHC-S filter used.

Cheers

Triffid

Hi Eric,
Great detail, sharp focus, however too much blue (it overides everything else) bit more processing required for correct colour balance, youll be right when the 300D arrives.

cheers...Jim

nice image, just the vignetting needs to be looked at. So when does your modded 300D come?

Great shot there Eric. Hope you dont mind, but I oopened it in Photoshop, then used gratient exterminator plugin to fraw a circle round the nebula, then ran it, it also automatically balances the sky background as it goes. What do you think?

Very nice image of M20, Eric......I think your biggest problem would be the light pollution and Vignetting causing the cyan centre.
Do you take a flat field image at all Eric? or maybe replace the secondary mirror for a bigger one? to stop vignetting.
But other than that i think that new newt of your`s is taking some real nice pixs...much better than that optec 8" one thats for sure..

I like the original and then loved the reworked image, the Trifid Nebula is just so spectacular, you have captured the essence of it

cheers guys thanks. the 300d is on its way here houghy from sweden. should be here i reckon late next week. no worries at all scott. your version looks good. I can see what you mean now the gradient in the centre. I have gradient exterminator but how do u frame an area? i normally use medium for both settings without ticking colour balance. Hi Gary. The cyan centre i think is mainly caused from the baader uhc-s filter. all my light frames are cyan. without the filter, it is white. hehe much better than my previous 8" scope i had! very happy with the C10 thanks Ron, Jim & Andrew.
